How to read faster

​Speed reading is recognising keywords in the phrases and absorbing them rather than reading the whole sentence. Being consistent is the key to reading faster. Here are different methods to try out:

1. The pointer method: involves pointing your finger at the phrase when reading and following the lines. This method helps you focus more as your fingers guide the reader. Start slow and gradually increase the speed of the reading. 
2. Preview: skim read the text, instead of reading word by word, try reading groups of words at a time. 
3. Expand your vocabulary: this helps by ensuring that the reader recognises the words and their meaning easily. If the word is not familiar, try connecting it to the context to not stop the reading. 
4. Time the reading or use speed reading apps (for example “Speeder”) ​
