Economics Extended Essay candidates with Dr. Arthur Laffer, Economist, Ex Chicago Business Economics.

Short account: Six economics extended essay candidates, along with members of the Economics and Business Management department staff were invited to attend an informal talk by Dr Arthur Laffer, on Wednesday June 19th 2024. Dr Laffer is known as the "Father of Supply Side Economics" and has his name given to the Laffer Curve, which is famously referred to the world over when explaining optimal tax rates. Dr Laffer was economics adviser to both Mrs Thatcher, British Prime Minister and Ronald Reagan, American President.

Dr Laffer talked for more than two and a half hours on his experiences in economics yet our pupils were enthralled the whole time (as too were the staff). After the talk the pupils met with Dr Laffer personally to ask questions and of course have their picture taken. Fernando was heard to say that the whole event was "amazing", which summed up the feelings of the whole group.
