ANA BEATRIZ MACIEL

1. In your opinion, what is the biggest problem the school faces?
The biggest problem that the school faces is that they are not open-minded enough, and they are not open enough to new ideas. This is a big problem, as it will directly affect the school and their day to day experiences, from students not being happy, and not feeling safe, due to them not being able to have a voice, and give their opinions to the school. If I am given the honor and opportunity of being elected student council I will make it a priority to open the schools mind. This will then help students thrive in their academic and scholar life.

2. Why do you want to be a member of the student council?
As a student and a member of this community, I have many times faced a scholar barrier; not being heard. This is a big problem in  our school which I see everywhere in our community and I will yearn to change such a problem, as I speak for the people, and not for myself.

3. What is your biggest goal as student council?  My biggest goal is to be able to give students a voice, and show the students that our school cares about their well being and their opinion. Such thing can be proven by changing some present time problems that students are facing in their day to day life.

4. If you had all the money in the world, what would you change in school?
Because this is a hypothetical question, I would like to do something very useful, but it would require a lot of money. I would like to build a bridge, going from the last floor in the old building, to the highest floor in the new building. This would save students energy, and make going around in school more efficient. A new and more efficient bag rack system would also be very helpful, especially because of student's bags getting mixed up, and students not having enough space in the present bag rack system to place their bags.

5. Describe yourself in one word?
I think that a word that would, could describe my personality would be "resilient".

6. Is there anything you would like to add?

RAPHAEL BEHAR

1. In your opinion, what is the biggest problem the school faces?
I believe that the biggest problem is that there is a lot of toxic academic competition within year groups, which leads to deterioration of mental health. HENRIQUE ESTEVES

1. In your opinion, what is the biggest problem the school faces? It’s hard to pinpoint a single big problem but I would say that one of the major problems the school faces is that there sometimes is a toxic atmosphere relating to grades and competition. For example, the assembly comparing IGCSE grades reinforced exactly the atmosphere the school wants to avoid, and instead it needs to be constructive and helpful.

2. Why do you want to be a member of the student council?
It's something I really enjoy and this year I feel more prepared now than ever to tackle the problems, especially because it is the IB. So anything that can make life less stressful can cancel it out.

3. What is your biggest goal as student council?

4. If you had all the money in the world, what would you change in school?
Improve the facilities in the library, increase the size of the create space. I would also start the ACT and SAT prep programs in the school to better prepare students for university. FELIPE MELZER

1. In your opinion, what is the biggest problem the school faces?
Diversity.

2. Why do you want to be a member of the student council?
Watching presidential and governors’ debates’, congressperson advertisements, and other political events made me feel that the people representing us were in this position for personal gain and not for the betterment of our communities. With this being said, I felt unrepresented, therefore, I feel like it is my duty to represent our year group and that our presentation in the council is not to be synthesised in any way in school.

3. What is your biggest goal as student council?
To smoothen our IB journey and to leave a transformational impact on our community.

4. If you had all the money in the world, what would you change in school?
Set an endowment fund to take care of any Paulean who is financially unable to attend their desired university.

5. Describe yourself in one word?
"Modern."

Picture

HENRIQUE SAMPAIO

1. In your opinion, what is the biggest problem the school faces?
Personally, I believe the sixth form is currently lacking preparation for standardised testing required for certain schools. One of my ideas is to enhance this preparation by having workshops for these standardised tests, for instance, SAT preparation for those who wish to study in the USA, and MCAT and LNAT for those that want to study law or medicine to the UK. By having these workshops, people will be able to ask their doubts and learn more tips for the test. In regard to standardised testing, schools should prepare tests during weekends so students can get used to the real scenarios of these types of tests and students can practice through repetition.

2. Why do you want to be a member of the student council?
I want to be a member of student council because I truly believe I can have an impact in shaping the school for a prosperous future. I believe that the student council is an excellent tool for students to raise their complaints and implant new ideas to the school. Additionally, I am a disciplined and dedicated individual, so I believe I am fit for this role.

3. What is your biggest goal as student council?
My biggest goal for the student council is to be able to create an effective method of presenting the ideas of students in our year to the council, and actively communicating with my year group to always have new ideas and suggestions to implement at school. My goal is to unify our whole year into one voice and improve the school.

4. If you had all the money in the world, what would you change in school?
Firstly, I would refurbish all the areas of the school that are lacking and are old- such as the drama studio, the PE bathrooms, and the whole main building of the senior school as the pre-prep and prep have just gotten new refurbishments.

5. Describe yourself in one word:
Creative. I think I’m a creative individual so I can always use my critical thinking and knowledge to come up with solutions for problems around school and innovate the school into a better learning environment.
