By: M. Melzer Everyone has those moments where something changes, and you only realize it later. You look back and think, " Oh, that was when things got different.
It does not have to be anything dramatic. Maybe you stopped hanging out with someone and never really decided to; it just happened. Maybe you picked up a hobby on a random weekend, and now it is your whole thing. Maybe you bombed a test, and it actually made you figure out how you study best. Small stuff. But it adds up. The problem is we get stuck looking backwards. We think about things we said two years ago at a party that nobody else remembers. We wish we had done something differently, as if we could go back and fix it. But we can not. And honestly, even if we could, we probably would not get it right the second time either. What actually helps is just accepting that every version of you so far has been a rough draft. That is not a bad thing. Rough drafts are how you figure out what the final version looks like. Nobody gets it right on the first try, and the people who seem like they do are just better at hiding their edits. The truth is, most of life is just turning pages without knowing what comes next. You pick a subject to study, and you have no idea if you will love it. When you talk to someone new, you have no idea if they will matter to you in five years. You make a decision with the information you have, and you see what happens. That is kind of it. There is no big secret. You just keep going, and eventually you look back and realize the story actually makes sense, even the weird parts.
