The Form 2 went to Ouro Preto and Mariana this term, and we had a lot of exciting moments learning about history and geography. We went to multiple historic places in 2 days, and a lot of us grew tired. However, because of the fun activities and free times, we were able to enjoy our trip.
Chuches were full of gold and it was marvellous: every part of the walls were delicately decorated. My friends and I were so amazed, we couldn't speak. Also, it represented how rich in natural resources, such as gold, Brasil was. Again, it was wonderful.
Mines were shocking since we needed to crawl inside to reach each destination. It was very horrifying; the most terrible part was that it was mandatory to put an anchor on the slaves so they wouldn't escape.
Ouro Preto was the richest city in Latin America because of the discovery of gold. If you go to the churches, there are walls full of gold and is one of the beautiful church I've ever seen in my life. Unfortunately, we cannot take pictures inside.
To summarise, Ouro Preto seems to be very religious place and is also very beautiful too. We could feel how the people lived there in the past since the structure of houses represents their life back then. I really want to go back and stay more time there with my friends again.
