In the 16th of September 2026, Sport Club Corinthians Paulista faced Estudiantes at Neo Química Arena in a gruelling second-leg match in the Libertadores quarter-final. The game was toe-to-toe through the first half with no clear winner, especially because of the first-leg game ending in a 1-1 draw. This was until the 87th minute of the second-half where Estudiantes player Alexis Castro made a wonderful first-touch half-volley goal to bring the aggregate score to 2-1 Estudiantes to the disappointment of the Corinthians fans. As the game went on, it seemed that Corinthians' magical Libertadores saga was coming to an end, until, at the end of extra time, to everybody’s surprise, Corinthians gained a decisive last-minute penalty when Estudiantes defender González Pírez hit the ball with his hand inside the penalty box. It seemed that Corinthians’ hopes and dreams were still alive, as Netherlands top scorer and European superstar Memphis Depay stepped up to take it, and the result shocked everyone; to the joy of the Estudiantes visiting fans and to the utter disbelief of the Corinthians crowd, Memphis launched the ball to the stands. In the end, Corinthians were eliminated, and Memphis and the team were utterly disappointed, along with the furious and heartbroken Corinthians fans.
