President Joe Biden is the current president of the United States; he was elected on the 3rd of November 2020. After his election, during his inauguration ceremony, poet Amanda Gorman read a poem called “The Hill We Climb” which is supposed to represent the U.S’s imperfections and the ability to overcome many difficulties.

After reading her poem during Biden’s inauguration ceremony night, Amanda Gorman became the youngest inaugural poet ever. This poem was meant to show Americans that the US is not a “perfect” union, but is being able to overcome certain struggles in a sometimes painful and slow manner. This sends the message that progress does not happen all at once and is a process which takes time and humility, showing us why the title of the poem is “The Hill we Climb”. Moreover, the poem is a call for unity, collaboration and togetherness amongst the nation used to emphasize major opportunities that the future may hold for the American people.

Until now president joe Biden has done quite a lot of things to help the United States, and during the tough pandemic it is clear that the safety of his nation is one of his main priorities. During his first year as president, he has extended the vaccine availability, and about 75% of the us population has been given at least the first dose. There are also about 63% of people who are completely vaccinated, given all four doses. Under his command, children at the age of five have been allowed to get vaccinated since November, and an additional 80 million booster doses have been given to the population.

As soon as Biden came into power there were economic issues which slowed job growth and caused many Americans to lose their jobs mainly due to the previously uncontrolled lockdown. The employment rates were extremely low, far lower than pre-pandemic levels, and mostly due to the pandemic millions of Americans quit their jobs and industries faced an immense labour shortage.

Although there were many obstacles In Mr. Biden’s somewhat short amount of time in power, he was able to accomplish quite a lot of things despite the difficulties the US was facing when he was elected, for example in March he passed 1.9tn dollars of pandemic relief bill and managed to pass 1tn dollars of infrastructure bill in November. In general, Biden has done a respectively good job in keeping his nation safe and controlled during this tough time. However, there were also certain ups and downs along the way, especially considering current employment rates.
