Discussions around the environment are of the utmost importance in recent years, causing conflicts in politics, economics and virtually all global issues. The challenges society encounters when making a strive towards a cleaner way of living have proven to be discouraging in recent years. In 2021, American president, Joe Biden, promised a policy which ensured the United States international engagement to address climate change. Joe Biden has been fighting to accomplish changes which prevent the continuous harm to the planet and recently seems to have been proven successful.
On the fifteenth of February, the Biden-Harris administration announced new actions to support American leadership on clean manufacturing. The stated actions will include low-carbon production of steel and aluminum (decreasing the emission of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide which are both pollutants) needed for electric vehicles, wind turbines, solar panels, and the clean concrete needed transportation infrastructure. Because the USA is a global superpower and one of the biggest emitters of greenhouse gases, the promise from American leadership to act on solving this global issue, influence other countries into changing their own policies
The industrial sector must be reviewed too to fight climate change. The USA has an extremely impactful industrialization, its sector is responsible for 2/3 of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. Manufactures will be encouraged to use clean energy, efficiency upgrades, and will be granted access to innovative pieces of technology in order to reduce emissions of greenhouse gas emissions. The Administration wishes to support a cleaner industry that can produce industrial developments at a lower cost for the environment.
Furthermore, the administration has promised that through these actions they will boost American competitiveness, create more jobs and lower the prices of consumer process, all potentially improving the economy. Changes to the industrialization process are necessary to reduce the rate of climate change as it's fundamental in determining the future of our planet. Industrialization is necessary but a cleaner innovative base must be promoted to address environmental issues
The fight against climate change is an obstacle that must be continuously climbed to overcome it. “The hill we climb”- a poem read in Bidens inauguration by Amanda Gorman, is related in his fight for clean industrialization. It is a step in the climb he must take for him to overcome the “hill” which is climate change, a huge threat to our future.
