Community Service Trip - Dec. 2017
By: A. Behar
I got involved in community service because I am interested in helping people, especially since this brings me great joy. I joined the group in Form 1, and it has been an amazing experience.
On the 18th of December, the British society community service group went to Casa Madre Teodora dos Idosos to visit the elderlies who live there. We spent the term planning activities and interviewing the elderly about their daily routines at school so that we could be better prepared for when we visited them.
It was an amazing experience and we all felt touched and grateful for being given the opportunity to brighten up someone’s day and hopefully make it better. There we had lots of fun meeting and getting to know the elderlies, especially since they were all open and willing to talk to us about their lives and experiences.
We talked played games and had breakfast with them. We then began to play songs, painted with them, and lastly, we played a very enjoyable game of bingo. Furthermore, since we visited them during Christmas season we gave them each a hygiene kit, which we had prepared in advance. They enjoyed it very much.
We loved the visit as it touched our hearts, and I particularly am excited for next year.
