On the 14th of March, the community service enrichment visited Casa Madre Teodora. It is a home which helps elderly people since the 1990s and it is financed by the British Society for these past years. This home shelters both women and men and assists them carefully in all their daily needs. There are hired nurses and volunteers who take care of the elderly and their daily supplies which are stocked by the owners. They have a large residence which includes: gardens, living rooms and plenty shared bedrooms. The women remain at the top floor and men on the bottom. As soon as we arrived, all the elderly pleasantly greeted us. We immediately unpacked our games and other entertainment supplies so that we could play with them.
Firstly, we played bingo with the men and each one of us paired up with some elderlies to assist them. We played for a couple of rounds and the winners won mugs, shirts and caps which were all provided by the school and the British Society. The elderlies were thrilled with their new gifts so we moved on to the top floor, where the women were. We brought some nail polish so that we could paint their nails. Later on, the nurses also helped to finish off some of the women's nails. After we completed the activities planned, we just played some games and entertained the elderly. Some of them told us stories about their childhood and we managed to make and interview for a video that is being made about this visit. One of the girls of the enrichment, played the guitar and sang songs to them. It was wonderful to see them join in and sing along. Overall, the visit was fantastic considering that we planned new interesting activities for the elderly which we hadn’t done it in previous visits. On the 14th of March, the community service enrichment visited Casa Madre Teodora.
