Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition- Sept 2018

The Duke of Edinburgh Gold expedition to Serra do Papagaio was a tough yet gratifying experience. The four-day long trail took both, our physical and navigational capabilities to the limit.
For me, the most rewarding thing about the Duke of Edinburgh is the extraordinary contact with nature which is hard to come by in today’s modern life. However, nature is not always in our favour as we soon found out. Perhaps the most challenging day was the second, when the rain did not leave us for a moment. Even as we arrived in the campsite, rain  ceased only for a few minutes as we build our tents but soon returned forcing us to stay in our tents for the remainder of the day. Despite natures initial hardships we faced beautiful weather wise. Our major challenge then became navigating through the endless ridges of the landscape.
Even with all the difficulties faced through the expedition, I believe we can all of agree that the trip was incredibly fulfilling and unique.
