What was the most stressful part of the application process?
the interview, without a doubt, as there really is no way to prepare yourself for it, you just have to trust your words, i guess..
Why did you want to be a prefect?
I wanted to be a prefect because it is the perfect opportunity for me to give back to St. Paul’s, a place that has given me numerous opportunities and shaped me into who I am today. I want to make sure the future generations have even better opportunitites than I had, making the school constantly progress in the right direction!
What was the hardest question they asked you in your interview?
There was a whole story behind this question but essentially it was: if a genie granted you one wish for you to change the world, what would it be? And relate it to being a prefect. (followup question: why didn’t you cure cancer? (or, essentially, anything else you didn’t say))
What is your favorite TV show?
Friends (because who’s favourite TV show isn’t Friends?) and 90210
What do you want to study in the future and where?
I want to study medicine, but I am still undecided about whether I’ll be staying in Brazil or going to the U.S.
Place you most want to visit:
Antarctica and Thailand
What is one thing you want to change in school?
One of my biggest aims as a prefect is to encourage pupils to start their own enrichment activities. That would ensure that every pupil is participating in activities that they enjoy, at the same time as they spread new ideas into the St. Paul’s community, which will be enriching to everyone! Alot of times we see pupils joining enrichment activities depending on the activities their friends signed up to, which leads to that period being thrown away instead of used to enrich the student.
Any advice for prospective prefects?
Don’t stress so much over the interview! If you really want to be a prefect, it will surely be evident to the interviewer! Also, try not to plan answers ahead of the interview, the interviewer will notice!! Just be yourself and everything will turn out fine!
