The Prefect’s Training session was split into two days, filled with team-building exercises and activities to help us understand what it really means to be a prefect.

During the first session, we went to escape60. If you don’t know, this is a game where your soul purpose is to leave the room in an hour. Due to the large group of prefects, we were asked to split into two teams of six, therefore, making it a competition.

Even though it was very hard, as well as competitive, for one brief moment the two teams united to work together in order to solve a puzzle; and, for that instant, we felt like we will be a good team after all, helping each other out and making compromises.

It was a pity that said moment was during the last minute of the game, but, still, it was a very entertaining activity for a Saturday morning! We returned to school, ate lunch, and had a one-hour long reflection session, talking about our experience with the game, and how we felt about our team.

The second reflection session endured of a three-hour long meeting with the Senior Leadership Team, where each one of them gave us a talk. It helped us gain a better understanding of what it means to be a prefect, what is expected of us, and how to best execute such targets.

Dr. Hallinan gave us a talk on public speaking, and each one of us had to prepare to give a specific speech; we didn't know who he would choose, but we were all prepared. It was a very good exercise, and it helped us gain a better understanding of everyone's specific role.

I believe that the second session helped everyone truly understand the meaning of their role specifically, as well as in the team, so that we can be as successful as possible. We have discussed ways to approach different situations, and I feel overall excited for the year to come!
