This years SPMUN was definitely striking and filled with fruitful debates.

Having previously been to only a few conferences , I believe that I don’t have enough experience to judge the conference as a whole, yet, I can guarantee that the expressions of happiness and satisfaction stamped on the faces of all the delegates says a lot more than my words. After talking to friends and colleges from various different schools, I concluded that all the committees were intrigued by the superior level of debate that was encountered and developed by the delegates. Chairs and vice-chairs were all caring and extremely attentive, always seeking to improve the discussion during committee sessions and always enlightening the delegations on how to improve and develop their debating skills.

I had the honor of taking part of the Belgrade Non-Aligned Conference. Together with my partner we  manifested our delegation’s main views and perspective on the topics: addressing denuclearization and the political crisis in the Congo. Representing the country of Cambodia was definitely a challenge as it didn’t seem to have a significant connection with the topics, however, after lots of research and discussions we were able to understand a little more with regards to our country’s ideas and how to benefit all the delegations in the committee. It was a pleasure to be able to argue and confront experienced delegates as well as becoming allies with other extremely astute students. It was impressive to see that the delegates were always raising their placards and announcing  points of information, even when they didn’t have the obligation to say anything at all. Throughout the conference, I met excessively talented pupils that showed an intense will to improve their skills with every word they spoke and add on to the abundance of experience that they possessed. I am determined to one day become as good as them, and hopefully be able to impress new delegates as much as I was impressed.

It is always a huge pleasure to participate in any MUN conference and I strongly encourage pupils who are not yet taking part of this marvelous experience, to do so as soon if they get the chance.
