Dear F1s,
Welcome to the senior school. We are glad to have you here and hope you'll enjoy it as much as we did. The senior school is very different to the prep school. On one hand, the things we do here are more exciting and thrilling. But on the other hand, it's a lot more challenging and you'll struggle along the way.

The best things here are:
  • the range of lessons,
  • new subjects,
  • the tuck shop,
  • vending machines,
  • circulating more around the school,
  • having classes with different pupils from your year group
  • finally, a lot more freedom.
However, with freedom comes more responsibilities. Here are some tips to make your life easier and a lot less stressful:

Here are some tips:
  • Be organized and do homework when you get it
  • Start studying early (especially for the sciences that require a lot of memorizing)
  • Be on time (to lessons and to school in the morning; really helps you to get organized).
  • Check your emails at least once a day.
  • Get involved with school life – school council, school play, LCM, OBMEP, UKMT, etc.
  • ALWAYS go to workshops when you don't understand something.
  • Remember to always talk to your teachers! Ask questions if you don’t understand something in class and be sure to contact them if there’s a problem with homework. Remember, they are here to help you!
  • Have timetable backups – Carry them around everywhere, especially if you don't know where your classes are or what subject you have next.
  • If you need to use the toilets or drink water always go during break and lunch because some teachers will not let you go during their lesson

Folders and Lockers:
It is always good to come up with a strategy for getting organized with your lockers and folders. Each person has a different one but the most often used is:
  1. To get your first two folders in the morning when you get to school (or the previous day before you go home),
  2. During break you get your folders for the 3rd and 4th period,
  3. During lunch, you get your folders for the last two periods you have.
  • When buying your school supplies try buying 1 folder for each subject and an extra one in case one of them breaks. (Trust us, they will break at some point)
  • Always try to carry as least weight possible. If your backpack is too heavy, quickly go to your locker and drop of the folder you don't need.

AND REMEMBER: ALWAYS USE YOUR LOCKERS

F1s, if you're ever having a hard time organizing yourself, if you aren't handing in homework on time and getting non-satises, take a look at these tips for help.

We hope you'll have a good time in the senior school!
On behalf of the F2s, have fun and Good Luck!
