For fans who follow sports, every match is a thrill and a rollercoaster of emotions. Some matches are so memorable that they go down in history and are engraved in the hearts of fans forever. Whether it was for the number of goals, the fantastic team spirit moments, the presence of specific players, or the spectacular comebacks of some teams, everything becomes the subject of heated conversation, anytime, anywhere, with everyone. The unbeatable passion for football makes it one of the sports with the most memorable moments which have made history in the world. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and remember some of these moments. For Brazilians, who follow football and know the club teams, many might remember this historic match, Santos VS Flamengo – Brasileirão 2011. The game was in Vila Belmiro, and it was a fight against the “Titans”. Neymar was representing Santos and Ronaldinho Gaúcho represented Flamengo and faced each other in a historic clash. The first half of the game was close, ending in a 3-3 tie after Santos started in the lead. Ronaldinho showed the whole world his talent in the second half, and Flamengo returned to advantage, winning by 5 to 4. That match featured a goal by Neymar receiving the Puskás award for the most beautiful goal of that year and a hat-trick by Ronaldinho Gaúcho, going down in history as one of the most exciting matches. The Champions League; one of the most famous football championships to exist. The most serious and very competitive, losing only to the world cup. The league itself is already exciting, but to watch a final of this league is on another level. Hence why, the final between Liverpool VS Milan in 2005 was one of the most thrilling finals of the Champions League. Also known as the “Miracle of Istanbul,” this game went down in history. Liverpool had this epic win over Milan and secured the continental title after a fasting of 21 days. Thus, it was called the Miracle of Istanbul. Liverpool was three goals behind Milan and recovered in the second half of the game. The game ended up being tied and went on to penalties, where Liverpool won the final by 3x2, becoming a five-time champion. Now onto the next historic win, we move to the biggest sporting event to exist in the world, the World Cup. This moment is when the world stopped what they were doing to watch the match Brazil VS Italy in the final in 1970. Considered by many to be the best Brazilian team ever to play, formed by stars like Rivelino, Jairzinho, Tostão, Carlos Alberto Torres, Pelé, and coach Zagallo, this game could not be left out of this article. Italy was not far behind the Brazilian teams, having outstanding players like Bosignena and Gigi Riva. Both teams fought to win the third world championship. This epic game ended 4-1, with Brazil taking the trophy home. Lastly, another historic win that went down to history was the Palmeiras VS Vasco game in the Final da Copa Mercosul in 2000. This game was almost considered a miracle. Vasco ended the first half with three goals behind Palmeirs and came back with everything they had to recover these lost goals. They turned around at 48’ of the second half, and Vasco won the match 4x3. After this trip down memory lane, remembering all these impressive wins makes you wonder, what if something had gone differently? What if Italy made 3 more goals? What if someone for hurt? We can’t know for sure but what we all know is that there will be more epic wins for everyone to watch and fall in love with this amazing sport.
