By E. Grieco After a successful football season, the Lions got straight into action for the SPHSL Futsal League. Within only one week of training sessions, the team already had their first challenge: EAC away from home. After wasting a handful of chances at the beginning of the game, the first half ended 1x1. However, the team began the second half with a different attitude and began taking their chances. Paolo Carroll and Jorge Castello Branco scored three goals each and led the St Paul’s Lions to victory against the giants; the game ended 7x1 for St Pauls! What a great start to the championship! Soon after our first match, the Lions had another big challenge ahead from them. This time it was against our rivals, the Chapel Trojans away from home. After a terrible start once again, the first half ended with the Trojans leading by three goals difference. Even though the boys worked extremely hard and tried their very best, it wasn’t enough to put them in the lead and come back home with all three points as the game ended 13x9 for Chapel. Despite our defeat, the team is determined to work hard during training sessions and hopefully achieve a better performance and beat our next opponents. The next game will take place on Wednesday 28th of February (6:30pm) at St. Pauls. We hope you can come along to support and encourage our Varsity Futsal team in this vital match against the Graded Eagles!
