By V. GonzalezLast Monday, on the 18th of March, our sporty Lions travelled all the way to Chapel School to face the mighty Trojans for four important games. All of our girls and boys from both futsal and volleyball teams had matches and brought home outstanding results.
During the first two games, our volleyball girls had a fantastic game and our boys played an intense futsal match against their rivals. In the volleyball court, the girls won the first set without much difficulty, however, at the beginning of the second set, it felt like we had completely lost our valuable skills. For some reason, we lost our focus and felt the tough consequences as the Trojans scored point after point, almost turning the score around. After asking for a time out and having a pep talk all over again, we managed to regain our concentration and close the second set. For the final set, we were certain that we wouldn’t lose our heads again, but unfortunately, we did and the same thing happened one more time. We almost practically gave away the third set as they scored consecutively as a result of our slouchy performance. Fortunately, we managed to close off the final set, finishing with a well-deserved victory of 3-0. The boys, on the other hand, had a tougher match in the futsal court. Their rivals came in with extreme determination to win the game. Even though the lions tried their best, the Trojans managed to overcome our fearfulness and closed the score with a win; 7-5 to Chapel School. Later on, after all the previous games’ tension was over, the girls walked into the futsal court while the boys entered the volleyball court, just a few metres away from each other. As newly built teams, they have made a special effort throughout the season. For the boys, even though they are giving all of their blood and sweat in court and leaving behind no traces of weaknesses, they are not achieving the results they desire. It is important to mention that they began playing volleyball and accepted the challenge to join the SPHSL Tournament knowing that it would be extremely hard to play against the other experienced teams. For the girls’ game, the match was surrounded by a tense feeling and atmosphere throughout both of the halves. Winning this game would allow us to have a chance to bring home the finals, which made us even more eager and determined to do so. As the game went on we noticed it wasn’t going to be easy, however, we managed to conclude the game with a final score of 6-4, bringing home another victory. Overall, all of the athletes present on that day played remarkably well, delivering a great amount of effort to achieve such honourable outcomes. Well done to all participant and good luck to all in the upcoming games!
