By R. LiawOn Wednesday, October 3rd, during enrichment time in period 6, St. Paul's had its annual 5k Run to raise money for charity. This year's race was called LION MODE. Some Lions who either ran or witnessed the race were interviewed shortly after the event, and here is what they had to say:
FELIPE LEBL, Form 4 pupil and participant of the LION MODE race (5K) - What was your motivation to take part in this race? "Lion Mode is not only about running around a field, selling t-shirts and having embarrassing photos taken of you. It is much more than that. Everyone's inner Lion is brought out! The strength of the individual is exhibited, and the group’s as well. You can see that through all the excitement and by the number of people that took part! Out there, we were a group. We were one school. We were a pride." SOPHIA MCMANUS, Form 4 pupil - How was the event’s overall atmosphere? "Even as a non-runner, I still could feel all the energy and motivation emitted from the field. On the track, it was clear that each person had their own incentive, but everyone was brought together for a greater cause! I am already looking forward to next year!" MS. RIBAS, Physics teacher and participant of the LION MODE Run (5k) - How did you feel running 5k for the first time? "This race motivated me to set new goals, which is something I am really excited about. Next year, I will train more beforehand. I also absolutely loved the fact that we ALL ran for a meaningful and beautiful cause: to help children fighting cancer. This is something that touches my heart because it is something special for me since I have gone through this myself. I hope all of us continue to not only do our best when running but find an important motive to inspire ourselves with."
