By E. GriecoFollowing on from our previous results, the Lions had a big fixture ahead of them against Graded Eagles at home and were hoping to come back to winning ways after our previous defeat to the Chapel Trojans. Without our main player, Paolo Carrol, the team faced a challenging and focused opposition. Despite the final result, 8x1 St Paul’s, the boys experienced a tough match and only came out of it with all 3 points by taking all of their chances clinically and efficiently. Huge thumbs up for the team’s defence which played consistently and securely throughout the entire game, conceding only one goal throughout the 36 minutes played. Vital 3 points for the lions!
Following on from an important win, our next opponents were the PACA warriors away from home. Unfortunately, the team was full of disadvantages for this fixture, Paolo and Arthur Schahin were injured, Jorge Castello Branco and Pedro Maluf only played a part of the match, and Rodrigo Zarzur, our goalkeeper, was also absent. This meant that those who didn’t get enough playing time (especially the Form 4s), had an opportunity to get some playing time. They stepped out there and performed perfectly and managed to win the game for us which ended 9x1. Next, we faced a team all the way up from Campinas, EAC at home. This was arguably the easiest game, but even though, the team maintained a high level of concentration in order to beat the Giants. The boys dominated the first and second half of the game, which ended 13x1 for St Paul’s. Crucial 3 points for the rest of the championship! Up to here, the team is doing extremely well by collecting as many points as possible, away from home and at home. As it currently stands, we are the second-best team in the tournament, only behind the Trojans of which are our next opponents here at school. We hope that the team manages to continue their great run against our rivals, and hopefully beat them!
