By L. Behar

Back from the holidays, with just a few days of school, the Volleyball Girls’ Varsity team played their first SPHSL game of the season.

With a slow and tense start, the team pushed each other to adjust back into position and practice their techniques. A good and confident attitude from the players and the first set was ours: Lions 23x21 Giants.
During the second set, the EAC Giants came with determination and hit down strong. Our team lost concentration and focus; the second set was an unfortunate loss: 12x21.

The next to sets were tense. Under a lot of pressure, the girls played hard and to the best of their ability. The third set ended with a close result of 18x21. But the girls put behind their struggles and insecurities and fought with resilience and determination, and were victorious in the fourth set, 21x19! As for the final set the girls secured victory with a score of 15x12.

The girls gained experience and learned from this tough game. They honoured their teamwork and achieved victory by encouraging each other and playing to the best of their ability!
