The Champions League

What a season! After having a long break between the round of 16, second leg, and the quarter finals this year, the Champions League rose above the barriers and were able to continue the tournament in July 2020. Although we were all stuck at home for longer than we could ever have imagined, the Champions League came back stronger than it was before, gifting us with some heated games with their return.

Although we could already have a glimpse of who was going to qualify for the semi-finals, I believe it is safe to say that the quarter finals were somehow… unexpected. Eight great teams competed against each other and gave us the following results:
  • PSG 2 x 1 Atalanta (GREAT GAME!!!!! Atalanta was winning by one for most of the second half, then with only about 1 MINUTE left of game, before the stoppage time, PSG successfully tied the game and then scored a second goal, securing their place in the semi-finals)
  • RB Leipzig 2 x 1 Atlético Madrid
  • Man. City 1 x 3 Lyon
  • And last but not least, the surprising: Barcelona 2 x 8 Bayern. I must admit I got a 7-1 vibes from that game… those Germans!
From those 4 amazing games, we were then presented with two intense semi-finals, with only France and Germany being represented:
  • RB Leipzig 0 x 3 PSG
  • Lyon 0 x 3 Bayern

Not with ease, PSG was the first team to qualify for the big Champions League Finals, followed by the unbeatable Bayern. Both teams knew it wasn’t going to be easy to go for the golden trophy, though you could feel the fire burning in their eyes.

I was personally cheering for Paris Saint-Germain, though deep down I almost knew what was coming. FC Bayern Munich is an extremely strong team and they had one of their best seasons so far. The finals wasn’t an easy game, for from it, though the German team got what they were looking for; they brought home the well-deserved title of Champions for the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League with a final score of 1 x 0. What a season!
