Our mighty Lions won the football rancho championship ISSL that took place from the 28th of September to October 1st. The team performed spectacularly on the three days of the tournament. With some outstanding match results and individual highlights. For example, on our first match Jorge managed to complete a “chapeu” – trick and the team scored an astonishing eight – zero. The team worked well together, it was nice to see that ever F5 players where part of the squad.
Eight teams participated on the tournament. First, the eight teams were divided into two small groups of four. From these groups, only the first two teams would qualify for the semi – final. The other two teams qualifies for a “losers” semi – final. Therefore, the first team in the first group key played the semi – final vs the second qualifying team in the second group. As a result, the second qualifying team in the second group played the semi – final with the first qualifying team in the first group. Consequently, the winners of this semi-final played a match for the first and second place and the losers played vs each other to dispute the third and fourth place. The teams that ended in third and fourth place in the groups did the same process as the first to teams in the group but their “losers” semi – final conducted them into disputing for fifth and sixth place or seventh and eighth place.
Our pauleans were very successful throughout the whole tournament, with only one defeat, they managed to achieve first place in the groups; with two wins and the only defeat. In semi – finals the lions beat trinity in penalties, Enzo Grieco saving the fifth penalty. Lastly, in the final, our mighty Lions defeated the PSAB School 5 x 3.
