X GAMES

What are the X Games? These are one of the most extreme sports competitions that have been going on every year since it was founded in 1995. It has two editions: the summer and winter edition, and is broadcasted by the American radio and TV channel ESPN. The games take place around the world but are mainly focused on Aspen, Minneapolis, and Sydney, where it has been hosted for the past 23 years. In the Summer and Winter X Games 2018, sports that take part include:

This year’s Summer X Games will take place in Australia’s capital city, Sydney, and will include all of the sport stated above; the prizes vary from Bronze, Silver and Gold medals, and money cheques, which are greatly motivating for all competitors, but nothing beats the adrenaline of participating in such an eventful moment and being recognised as a finalist of the X Games.

The Winter Games took place this year from January 25th to 28th in Aspen, Colorado, which held more than 110 thousand people who were surprised by a live music show starring the DJ and producer Marshmello on Sunday 28th at the Geico Music Stage. Below is the result tables for the Winter season this year:

Big Winners in the History of the Games

  • Skateboarder Wes Kremer won a Silver medal at the 2014 Summer Games.
  • Skateboarder Pedro Barros (Brazilian) who won 6 Gold medals and 3 Silver ones under the Park category.
  • Skateboarder Tony Hawk competed 17 times in the Games and has won 16 medals (10 Gold ones). He is deeply remembered by his 900 air land in 1999 in San Francisco.
  • BMX Freestyler Dave Mirra has won 24 medals (14 are Gold ones), and is known as the ‘Miracle Man’.
  • Moto X Freestyler Travis Pastrana has 17 medals, and has a famous quote, “X Games is all about progression.”
  • BMX Vert competitor Jamie Bestwick has 13 Gold X Games medals since he began participating in the games in 2007.​
