Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is a part of the Brazilian Social Liberal Party (PSL) and his election in 2018 also led to an increase in seats the party occupied in congress. However, Bolsonaro has recently recommended that a supporter forget the party. This has caused an internal conflict in the party with those supporting the Brazilian President and those supporting the President of the party Luciano Bivar. Before the split, Joice Hasselman was the leader of the Social Liberal Party in the Chamber of Deputies, following the split Delegado Waldir (another anti-Bolsonaro member of the party) was chosen for the role. However, since he also condemned the Brazilian president, the ‘Bolsonarista’ deputies have came up with a list of 27 congressman that suggest Eduardo Bolsonaro (the President’s son) to occupy the role. This conflict can and will definitely have developments and it is something that you should keep an eye on!
