By R. Yahya Back in 2017, the USA's congress voted to not build a wall. Such wall would serve to reinforce the US-Mexico border and allegedly reduce the number of illegal immigrants in the USA. Congress stated that it was ‘impossible’ and that it was a waste of money. Many who are anti-Trump or just disagree with his campaign ideas sighed in relief when congress denied the right to build the wall, several times. But none of us actually expected that this would become a reality.
Because congress denied the right to build the wall, Trump supporters and fanatics who thought that this was wrong decided to make 'go-fund-me pages' so that people could send them money to help Trump build his wall. However, Trump has his fair share of haters and supporters, and many decided to simply ignore this. However, the world was taken aback when, on Sunday 27th May 2019, one of Trump’s die-hard supporters, proud American Brian Kolfage, Air force ex-servicemen and a Purple Heart recipient posted a video on Twitter exclaiming: “We made history!” He showcased a video of the private construction of Trump’s wall along the US-Mexico border. He tagged several of the charity organizations that helped him gather the donations, including 'TrumpStudents', 'RyanAFournier', 'TeamTrump' and 'TwitchyTeam'. With these organizations and several others, the project collected over $23 million. Although this sounds like a lot, this is barely enough to merely reinforce the US-Mexico border. The border stretches over 3,200 KM and the money can only cover a 21st fraction of the total length of the border. It was planned to link two 21 miles of the old border but, obviously, more money is still needed. But will these keen supporters gather enough? This is highly unlikely, but as has been shown with President Trump, only time will truly tell...
