Overcoming adversity is the climb up the hill. The way up is hard and strenuous however, once you are up there it’s worth it. The ability to overcome problems is perhaps one of the most important skills needed in life; you must be extremely persistent and resilient to accomplish it.
In the past, we hear of few individuals who have been able to overcome adversity on some occasions. These are all stories of talented and unique individuals, who set themself apart from others by achieving the climb up the hill.
Walt Disney is an excellent example of someone persistent in face of all the challenges he dealt with. He was fired from his first job at the Kansas City Star for lack of imagination and creativity. He led Disney’s animation studio, Laugh-O-Gram, into bankruptcy a few years later. His career took off only after he relocated to California to produce cartoons. Walt Disney's perseverance in achieving his goals is a remarkable example of overcoming the hill in his way. If he had stopped pursuing his dreams because of the difficulties he faced he would not have built such a legacy.
Benjamin Franklin is another unique individual who surpassed many obstacles in his life and became the famous printer, publisher, author, inventor, scientist, and diplomat that we all know today. Franklin's parents could no longer afford to send him to school when he was 10 years old. Financial constraints, however, did not deter him from perusing his education. He was able to educate himself by reading and is renowned for numerous inventions including the lightning rod and bifocals, clearly evidencing his intelligence.
While past generations have had to climb their hills individually, Gen-Z is a different generation that has the power to do achieve greatness if we put our minds to it and work together. This generation has never experienced a world without technological advancements, and consequently, are hyper-aware of what is happening around us. Because of innovative technology, we have ubiquitous access to communication, which sets high expectations for this generation. Gen-Z has great potential to climb many hills since we are a hardworking and united generation. We have a unique way to express ourselves and if we collaborate, we can climb the greatest mountains ever.
The world is resting on our shoulders, even when most of us are still children, this generation is valued, and everyone believes in our potential to make this world a better place. We need all the help we can get from each other! Being united is the only way we can climb our mountains. That is how we will succeed as the generation the world has been waiting for. The mountains and hills other generations used to climb individually will be fields of flatland for Generation Z if we work together to make the world a better place.
Are you ready Gen-Z?
