By F. Rizkallah
#1 – “Stuck With U” by Ariana Grande & Justin Bieber
“Stuck with U” is a great song to listen to during lockdown, simply because the entire song is literally is about staying at home. It’s also made by two very well-known artists, Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, and it is definitely one of the more memorable songs that comes to my mind. The song’s theme is very relatable, as the song was made during the pandemic (early 2020), and as mentioned before, the song is all about this theme and idea of staying at home in a world with such consequences.

#2 – “my future” by Billie Eilish
“my future” is definitely the best song on this list to relax to. It’s made by the talented Billie Eilish. The song starts with a nice, simple voice, and starts to pick up when on the chorus. Like some other songs on this list, it has some great lyrics, as they are about discovering yourself. For example, a part of the song’s chorus lyrics is “I’m in love with my future, can’t wait to meet her. […] just wanna get to know myself”.

#3 – “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles
Harry Styles’ hit called “Watermelon Sugar” is without a doubt one of the catchiest songs in this list, with a great melody that will stay inside your head for hours. This, along with “Adore You” and “Sign of the Times” is also one of Harry Styles’ hit songs in his musical carrer.

#4 – “Therefore I Am” by Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish’s “Therefore I Am” brand new single is for sure something that I would listen to on repeat for hours. It starts off with a nice, clean beat, and then the main chorus part comes in at the beginning. It’s got a nice melody and it’s made by Billie Eilish, who has made a couple of great songs this year (including the #2 spot on this list – “my future”). Billie Eilish has released some hit songs in the past 18 months, including her grammy-winning song “bad guy”.

#5 – “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd
“Blinding Lights” is one of The Weeknd’s many songs, which was released in late 2019. It became very popular through TikTok, as many people such as influencers started dancing to it and using it on their Tiktok accounts. Its also got quite a catchy synth pattern/melody.

#6 – “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa
Just like “Blinding Lights”, Dua Lipa’s hit song which rose to fame early this year, “Don’t Start Now” also became very well-known because of TikTok. “It’s about moving on and not letting anything get in the way of that.” Dua Lipa said in an interview with Rolling Stone.

#7 – “Hard on Yourself” by Charlie Puth and Blackbear
“Hard on Yourself” is a song that I chose because, like “Stuck With U”, it’s also something that I feel a lot of people are doing throughout quarantine – being hard on themselves. It’s also a great song made by the excellent artists Charlie Puth and Blackbear. It’s definitely the main song that I listen to when studying, because it’s very relaxing, and it doesn’t really stop you from concentrating.

#8 – “Monster” by Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber
“Monster” by Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber is most likely my favorite song on this list. It’s a single which has some excellent background music, including a great beat. It’s lyrics (specifically about Justin Bieber’s part) talk about all of the fame that he gained when he was around fifteen years old and released the hit song “Baby” with Ludacris. The rest of the song’s lyrics also talk about the general concept of blowing up and getting famous.

#9 – “Break My Heart” by Dua Lipa
“Break My Heart” is currently my favorite Dua Lipa song. Its excellent funk-style bassline, along with great lyrics, harmony, and beat all add up to make it a truly nice, to listen to, well-written song. Along with “Don’t Start Now”, this is one of Dua Lipa’s fan-favorite songs from her 2020 album “Future Nostalgia”.

#10 – “Wonder” by Shawn Mendes
Shawn Mendes’ brand new single “Wonder” (and his single with Justin Bieber, “Monster”) are two brand-new songs that I really enjoy listening to. “Wonder” was made for his Netflix Documentary, “Shawn Mendes: In Wonder”, which came out on the twenty-third of November. I consider this song’s lyrics to be the best ones on this list, as they are very powerful, and the song, in general, is definitely something that I would recommend listening to.
