Fifteen years later, and we are only seven months away from saying goodbye to yet another class of seniors from St Paul’s School. As a part of the Upper 6 myself, I think I can say for everyone that it has been indeed a very special ride. However, after fifteen years of your educational path being decided by someone else, you suddenly have to assume the responsibility of designing your own future. Exciting right? Or is it scary? “Where will I go next?”.
Then, in the blink of a second, we suddenly become a number in the middle of the thousands of applications our dream school has received. “Thank you, your application has been submitted”. “Now what? Do I just wait? Could I have done something differently? I shouldn’t have slept that night and studied until the morning for that test. Forget it, I’m never getting in. Was there a different road I could have taken?” (I know you found this relatable J). This period is definitely the most stressful months in the life of almost any student. You start doubting yourself, your capabilities, comparing yourself to others. So, this article has the purpose of reassuring any current or aspiring senior that is going or will go through this process. There are great things coming ahead! In order to enjoy the next years of your life, you have to live now. Know that you are going to end up where you are supposed to be. In a few months we will know the Lions that are staying in Brazil, the ones that are going to explore Europe, the United States, Canada and so many other places. I know, that wherever each Lion ends up, they will always treasure the memories created during their years at St Paul’s. Thank you, Class of 2022. And Good Luck! I am so proud of everything we have done and remember we’re almost there.
