As one of the greatest horror franchises ever created, the Friday the 13th series focuses on the serial killer Jason Voorhees, who kills anyone who dares to enter his home at Camp Crystal Lake. Almost all of its movies follow the same story: a group of rebellious teenagers find themselves at Camp Crystal Lake. This series has obviously made its mark on the horror genre and cinema.
But, interestingly, Jason Voorhees wasn’t the killer in the Friday the 13th movie; it was, in fact, his mother. One year prior to the first Friday the 13th movie, Jason drowned, and his mother Pamela Voorhees (played by the amazing Betsy Palmer) was furious when she discovered that the counselors were having sex instead of watching her son, so she decided to kill them.
She then kills another group of counselors who decide to take care of the camp in its reopening. But unfortunately, she is unable to kill the last remaining survivor since it chopped of her head.
But, as we all know, Jason did not, in fact, drown, and actually saw his mother being decapitated in the woods.
All the movies bring a new side to Jason, whether being that he is physically deformed or that he is as dumb as a squirrel. The only problem these movies have is that the victims are usually boring or unlikeable, but fortunately they all suffer a gruesome and satisfying death in the hands of Jason.
Over the years, Jason has remained a famous horror icon with his hockey mask and long machete.

Opinion: my favorite horror movie and deserves all the praise it has received over the past few years and will certainly be remembered as the greatest horror movie of all time
A quick news: if you would like to know how people die in your favorite horror movies, or feel pleasure in having the plot resolved in an amazing fashion, check out the amazing YouTube channel Dead Meat.

Facts:
*spoiler warning*
  • Jason shares the same universe as another famous killer, Freddy Krueger
  • His name was supposed to be Josh
  • Like many other horror icons, Jason has had his fair share of both bad and amazing sequels.
  • Just like in Friday the 13th part 1, Jason is not the killer in Friday the 13th part 5.
  • Jason only acquires his iconic hockey mask in the 3rd movie.
  • In his mother's home, he has a shrine containing his mother’s head and a bunch of dead bodies.
  • In Jason Goes to Hell it is revealed that Jason can simultaneously control people.
  • The series wasn’t going to focus on Jason but rather the weird occurring's on the day Friday the 13th.
  • The original title for the movie was going to be A Long Night at Camp Blood.
  • There is a Jason statue at the bottom of the Minnesota lake (Camp Crystal Lake)
