Guide to ice cream shops in São Paulo

1. Davvero Gelato Tradizionale

 
Davvero has won several different prizes as the best ice cream shop in São Paulo thanks to its 100% natural gelatos. Also, they follow the traditional production methods of an Italian ice cream only utilizing fresh and quality ingredients. The shop’s unique signature is the personalized biscuit that is accompanied by the ice cream and is one of the most memorable aspects of the whole experience. Between the wide variety of flavours of gelatos my favourites are fior di latte and banana com gianduia.

1. Bacio di latte

 
Bacio di latte is specialized in Italian style gelato, where the ice creams are made with fresh milk, organic sugar and typical Brazilian fruits. The flavours are divided in three groups, creams, fruits and chocolates including the most wanted: pistachio di bronte, nutellina and passion fruit. 

Most known locations: Rua Bela Cintra 1829, Av Rouxinol 575, Rua Oscar freire 136, Shopping Pátio Higienópolis, Shopping JK iguatemi.

1. Le Botteghe di Leonardo

 
In the Le Botteghe di Leonardo ice cream parlour all ingredients used to make their product are selected seasonal fruits, without the use of industrial paste, flavouring and food colouring. They offer delicious vegan, lactose-free and sugar-free ice creams including most of the fruit based ones and dark chocolate. If going to indulge in this ice cream, I would advise you to choose pistachio or nocciola, as they are the best in my opinion.

1. Cuor di Crema

 
Cuor di Crema is another ice cream shop that makes Italian Gelato and does not use any addition of flavouring, dyes and preservatives, assuring its legitimacy. Also, they are kept away from the light and oxygen in aluminium recipients to preserve its impeccable texture.  In-between all of the flavours, I would choose the crema, pistachio or chocolate ice cream with the choice of a chocolate filled cone.

1. Ben and Jerry’s

 
Ben and Jerry’s is a huge chain of ice cream shops that was established in Burlington, Vermont in 1978 and has recently opened in São Paulo becoming very famous between Paulistanos. Also, although their production process is not handcrafted they use very carefully chosen ingredients. The most appreciated ice creams by consumers are New York Super Fudge Chunk, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Chunky Monkey.

Locations: Oscar Freire 957, Avenida Paulista 2073 and Shopping Morumbi, including most supermarkets which sell the ice creams to be eaten at home.
