New York is probably the most well-known and visited city in the world, sometimes even referred to as the ‘capital of the world’. It attracts tourists due to its diverse range of museums, theatres, monuments and parks. There are over one and a half million people living in Manhattan from many different cultures and this has helped in making New York become home to the best and the most diverse and upscale restaurants. Restaurants in the island range from hotdog food trucks to Michelin-starred glamorous dining. In this article, I will mention some of the travelers’ favorite restaurants in the big apple.

If you are in town and wish to eat some good pasta and lasagna, here are some of the restaurants you should add to your must-go list:
  • Carbone is a New York classic, located in Greenwich Village (near the NYU campus). With its tiled floors, leather sofas and fantastic service, the place is a must.
  • This next one is, in my opinion, the best: Bar Pitti, also located in Greenwich Village along Sixth Avenue has a sitting area on the sidewalk where you will easily spot actresses, actors, singers and models. It has one of the best Caprese salads in the city!
  • Il Buco, located in NOHO, is also unmissable! It is one of the most special restaurants worth visting on the island, there truly is no place like it! If you want to eat a salad instead of one of their delicious risottos, I suggest the Caesar salad with black kale!
  • Finally, my personal favorite: Saint Ambroeus, situated on Madison. Its original location on Lafayette Street, Soho, offers many delicious plates ranging from Pasta to fish, and many salads. It is definitely a place to go if you want to enjoy a delicious meal and spot some celebrities.

New York also has a range of delicious, mouth-opening French restaurants that are definitely worth going!
  • Le Bernadin by Eric Ripert, located in Midtown, is a definite must-go, both at lunch and at dinner. Le Bernadin has a classy setting as well as a refined yet affordable menu, which ranges from caviar to langoustine.
  • I bet most of you have already been there, but a classic New York restaurant is Balthazar, located in Soho. As soon as you walk through its double doors you will instantly feel in a typical Parisian restaurant! It has a classical French menu, serving plates such as a wonderful steak tartar and the best escargot you will ever eat. You should certainly include Balthazar as one of your top choices in town.

Last but not least, New York is also becoming increasingly popular for its vegan and vegetarian restaurants.
  • This summer I went to the well-known By Chloe, which was just as wonderful as I expected it to be. There are quite a few By Chloe’s around the city such as in the Rockefeller center, Soho and many others. If you are looking for something “lighter” it has a delicious Greek salad and a wonderful kale Caesar salad. The place is also well known for its vegan burgers which taste just like, if not better, than regular burgers!
