How to: make bruxinha

We all know the thrill of rushing to the lunchroom at a Friday afternoon only to find out that there’s yoghurt, or some weird mousse instead of the previously desired bruxinha. But today, I’m going to teach you a solution to your problem, how to make homemade bruxinha.

It is extremely easy to cook, and trust me, it is better than school’s.

To start off, for the ingredients, you’ll need:
  • 1 can of sweet condensed milk;
  • 3 tablespoons of cocoa;
  • 1 tablespoon of butter (if you don’t have butter you can also use margarine);
  • A pack of your favorite biscuit.

You will also need a few utensils such as:
  • 1 saucepan;
  • 1 spoon or spatula;
  • Small bowls to serve.

                Bruxinha is a very simple dessert, consisting only of brigadeiro and biscuits, so it is essential to get the brigadeiro right. There are some indispensable tips to cook the best brigadeiro, and those are: the right ratio (for each can of sweet condensed milk use 3 tablespoons of cocoa and 1 tablespoon of butter); set the stove top to low and never, under any circumstances stop stirring.

To start cooking, put the sweet condensed milk into the pan and add the butter. Once the butter has melted, you can slowly add and stir the cocoa. If you add it all at once, too fast, your brigadeiro will become full of little cocoa pebbles.

If you like you brigadeiro more liquid-like, like me, stir for about 10 minutes, without stopping. If you like your brigadeiro thicker, stir for about 20 minutes but NEVER STOP STIRRING, otherwise it will burn.

Once the brigadeiro is as thick or thin as you like, you can add your biscuits, mix them firmly and you’re ready to go!

You can also sprinkle some crushed cookies of your choice, just to make it a little fancier.

Now, go ahead and taste your super gourmet bruxinha. I usually take about 30 minutes to cook it, and you shouldn’t take more than that.
