Nostalgia is a sentimental wistful or longing affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal memories. It is human nature to grow nostalgia for younger days. The games we used to play, the food we ate, the friends we shared, and the music we listened to. Yet, watching Disney movies as a kid is a powerful and very popular nostalgic memory that I am sure everyone shares! Most people will agree with me when I say that Disney has the best movies ever made! Ranging from ‘The lion King’, ‘Toy Story’, ‘Mulan’, ‘Beauty and The Beast’, ‘The Sleeping Beauty', ‘High School Musical’, ‘Inside Out’, ‘Aladin’, holiday movies and many more! Just talking about them brings up mostly happy and comforting memories back! It’s a bittersweet feeling! Others may say that Disney movies not only are nostalgic but TV Shows as well. Such as ‘Zack and Cody’, ‘Hannah Montana’, ‘Phineas and Ferb’, ‘Jessie’, ‘Wizard of Waverley place’, ‘Good Luck Charlie', ‘Little Einstein’s’, ‘Mickey Mouse’ and many more! Do you remember the intro songs to all these TV Shows? The dances to the musicals? The iconic lines of the characters? Well, I do and it's the best thing ever! It makes us want to sit down and watch all of these shows all over again. Most of us may wonder why Disney has recently chosen to recreate classic movies. They are called “classics” for a reason! Personally, I believe that we call them “classics” because many people love them! Maybe it is for the money, or for views, but what if it is? Isn’t it the best feeling ever to find out that they are releasing a new Lion King movie? A new Mulan movie? A new Beauty and the Beast movie? With real actors, not just animated characters, which makes the movie much more fun and interesting and makes us want to watch it even more! Disney was and is a big part of many peoples life’s, including myself, and I’m glad to know that they’re trying to bring back old memories into people's lives. Nostalgia is a way of offering ourselves hope and inspiration. Nostalgia mobilizes us for the future, it increases our desire to pursue important life goals. Nostalgia, by motivating us to remember the past in our own life, reminds us of who we have been and then compares that to who we are today, and who we want to be in the future.
