By AB. Jabur New York Fashion Week is one of the biggest installments in high fashion worldwide. It happens semi-annually; in September and in February. It’s an opportunity for designers from all over the world to showcase their new collections, and it’s where high fashion comes together as an industry. This month, it started on the 11th and ended on the 16th, so The Lion has decided to compile the 5 best looks showcased at NYFW.
1. Oscar de la Renta Complete with a gorgeous rosy purse, this transparent flower- patterned bodycon dress was an absolute showstopper- the long sleeves, high neck, and detailed pattern makes it almost look like the flowers are growing on the model’s body. 2. Gabriela Hearst This heavy fur dress and coat by Uruguayan designer Gabriela Hearst caught many people’s eyes with its colorful bottle cap decorations, perhaps making a statement on upcycling in fashion. 3. Ulla Johnson This heavily-patterned jumpsuit and long-sleeved shirt is so satisfying to look at. The calming earth tones work incredibly well with the model’s rich skin tone, and the geometric pattern makes it especially interesting to look at. 4. Maisie Wilen This deep mahogany coat brings a punky element to NYFW. The vinyl fabric combined with the model’s gorgeous makeup and hairdo makes her look like a supervillain who got caught in the rain. 5. Carolina Herrera This fluffy dress by well- known luxury brand Carolina Herrera has a ravishing color palette, with a regal deep blue and black that radiate elegance.
