By: I. Fischer and A.Kissajikian Throughout a person’s life, many things can trigger memories of the past, and bring them back to a certain period of their life. Whether it’s by seeing something similar from your childhood, or a smell that reminds you of a particular moment. But today we will be revisiting songs from the last decade that are coincidentally turning 10, and they probably will invoke some nostalgia within you.
1. Rihanna - We found love. Rihanna - We Found Love ft. Calvin Harris “We found love.” is a hit song by Rihanna and Calvin Harris released in 2011. It is a mix of electro, pop, and techno song. It’s the perfect song to get you in a good mood. It was also considered one of the most iconic songs of the 10s decade. 2. Adele- Someone like you Adele - Someone Like You (Official Music Video) “Someone like you” is a song written by Adele. It was one of the first hit songs the singer released. Now with more than a billion and a half views on YouTube, it’s a very slow tempo and heart-wrenching song. Little 7-year-old me had never experience heartbreak, but this song seemed to emulate what I imagined it felt like. 3. Gotye- Somebody that I used to know. Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra) - official music video “Somebody that I used to know” is an upbeat song about heartbreak by Gotye. From all the songs Gotye has released, this one was without doubt his biggest hit. Funnily enough, after releasing this song Gotye wasn’t heard from much, which makes the title of the song very fitting in relation to the artist's career. 4. Lady Gaga- The Edge of glory Lady Gaga - The Edge Of Glory (Official Music Video) It’s no secret that Lady Gaga was dominating the music charts in 2010. She released hit after hit, and the song “Edge of Glory” shows how she felt about her success in the music industry. This song will get you dancing in seconds. 5. M83- Midnight city M83 'Midnight City' Official video This song definitely was the song for raving at parties. It’s that song that everyone knows and can enjoy dancing to it. It was the biggest hit from M83, a band from the Antibes. They mainly focus on electronic pop music, like this one, for example. 6. Nicki Minaj- Super bass Nicki Minaj - Super Bass ‘Super Bass’ was one of the biggest hits from the 2011s. It has an exciting rhythm to it, making you want to rap and jump with it. The first 5 seconds of this song are so iconic, you could recognize it in the first few seconds. 7. Calvin Harris- Feel so close. Calvin Harris - Feel So Close (Official Video) I remember hearing this song a lot on the radio, and it definitely never failed to boost my mood. It has a soft but exciting vibe. It definitely lightens any room where it plays. 8. Foster the People - Pumped-up kicks. Foster The People - Pumped up Kicks (Official Music Video) Even though this song has a darker meaning behind it, we could never resist its uplifting beat and rhythm. Its fast beat can take uplift anyone’s mood. 9. Bon Iver- Holocene Bon Iver - Holocene (Official Music Video) “Holocene” definitely invokes nostalgia, not only because it’s a song I used to listen to in the past, but also because it’s a song that completely removes you from the present with its timeless atmosphere. 10. LMFAO- Party tock anthem. LMFAO ft. Lauren Bennett, GoonRock - Party Rock Anthem (Official Video) I think the song title speaks for itself, a party didn’t start in 2010 until this song played. “Party Rock Anthem” could get anyone to go on the dancefloor. It was absurdly addicting, and still is to this day. I just can’t help but stand up and dance when it starts to play.
